Group Classes

At Hickory Grove, I believe training will help your pet be a well mannered member of your household and your community. The classes are designed to provide age appropriate training. NEWLY ADDED daytime classes are offered on the same days as the evening classes but start at (see schedule below.)

BASIC PET OBEDIENCE

For dogs over the age of 6 months, this course teaches the owner how to train the basic commands that make pets a joy to live with and welcome canine citizens in the community. Diplomas will be awarded to those who pass the on-lead obedience test at the end of the session.

PUPPY PRIMER

For puppies 3-5 months of age, owners will learn how to raise a pup his first year. This course will include obedience geared to the young dog, common behavioral issues, and socialization so important to proper behavioral development. Certificates of attendance will be available to those who attend at least 6 lessons.

ADOLESCENT OBEDIENCE

For dogs 6-12 months of age, this course is a natural continuation of the Puppy Primer Class. It will continue socialization and manners with more emphasis on obedience training and helping owners to cope with rising energy levels and normal defiance of “teen age” dogs. Certificates of attendance will be available to those who attend at least 6 lessons.

INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED OBEDIENCE

For dogs and owners who have successfully completed Basic Obedience and are interested in training the dog to the point where he no longer needs a leash. A lecture on remote training will be included. Diplomas will be awarded to those who successfully pass the test at the end of the session. Students must be approved for these upper level classes.
